Balancing studies, family and career
The compatibility of family and studies or career is a central concern of Coburg University of Applied Sciences.
By improving the framework conditions, students and university members who take on family responsibilities should be supported equally. In this context, family friendliness is not only aimed at families with children, but also at the increasing proportion of those who have taken on responsibility for caring for relatives.
The university’s family office can draw on a wide network that connects the university with all important educational and social institutions in the region.

Campuszwerge" day nursery
The “Campuszwerge” crèche is located directly on the Friedrich Streib Campus of Coburg University of Applied Sciences.
The children of students aged between six months and three years can be looked after here.
Both the opening hours and the monthly parental contribution are tailored to the needs of student parents.
Typical daily routine in the crèche
- From 7 a.m., early childcare welcomes the first children.
- Breakfast is served together at around 9 am.
Fruit and drinks are also available to the children between meals.
- The nursery teachers then welcome the children in a short morning circle.
- This is followed by supervised, guided free play (playing in the functional corners) or there is a short offer on the individual educational areas (social behavior, perception, language, music, movement, creativity, nature and environment).
- Afterwards, the children discover the exciting world outside the crèche rooms – together with the teachers, they explore the campus or go into the garden.
- Lunch is served at half past eleven.
- Afterwards, the children take a nap or relax in a quiet atmosphere.
- A snack will be served at around 2.30 pm.
- The afternoon is similar to the morning with free play and targeted short activities in small groups (e.g. paste, shaving foam, finger paints, water, plasticine, crafts etc.), relaxation and retreat, depending on the children’s needs.
The younger the children, the more flexible the meal, rest and play times.
Because the motto of the crèche is: everyone according to their needs, without losing sight of the children’s community.
