We are delighted that you are interested in a semester/year abroad at Coburg University of Applied Sciences as part of the ERASMUS+ program or a cooperation between our universities abroad. Incoming exchange students study at Coburg University of Applied Sciences for one or two semesters without having to complete a degree. Information on application and enrollment can be found below.

Registration, application and deadlines
All incoming students must be nominated by their home university for a stay abroad at Coburg University of Applied Sciences. Once nominated, they will receive information and a link to the online application by email from the International Office. The application portal contains important information and will support you throughout your stay. The application procedure for exchange students – step by step:
- Fill out the online form and upload all required documents
- Required documents: During the online application process, a learning agreement, a letter of motivation, a transcript of records and a copy of the passport/ID card for EU students must be uploaded.
Please note: For students applying for our Department of Design (Civil Engineering, Architecture, Interior Architecture or Integrated Product Design), the following documents are also required: a letter of motivation and a portfolio, both in German. - Examination, acceptance or rejection: The International Office examines the application documents and forwards them to the department that accepts or rejects the application.
- Learning Agreement: The department checks and signs the Learning Agreement and sends it back to the International Office. This document will then be sent back to you together with the admission certificate. The selection procedure takes 4 to 6 weeks.
- The confirmation: The International Office issues a letter of admission in digital form. A printed copy can be sent to your home university on request.
Application deadlines
Applications must be submitted by completing the online application and sending in the mandatory documents by:
- June 15 (winter semester)
- November 15 (summer semester)
Language requirements
In most subject areas at Coburg University of Applied Sciences, courses are taught in German. To enable international students to have a successful and satisfactory stay, we recommend that you have at least level B1 German.
Enrollment, semester fee, re-registration
There are no tuition fees for studying at Coburg University of Applied Sciences. First-year students enrol after their arrival in Coburg. Before enrolling, you must pay the semester fee by bank transfer. Please refer to your letter of admission for further information. You will need the following documents:
- a copy of your passport
- Proof of German or European health insurance
- If you do not have valid health insurance, the International Office can give you the addresses of various health insurance companies. The contribution for student health insurance is approx. 90 EUR/month.

At the end of each semester, all students who wish to continue their studies in the next semester must re-register with the Department of Student Affairs. Please note: Re-registration is not automatic. The Department of Student Affairs sends students an e-mail requesting them to re-register; students must then re-register within the specified deadline. Students who fail to do so will be removed from the list of enrolled students.

Winter semester:
- Orientation week: mid-September
- Lectures begin: October 1
- The lectures end: Mid-January
- Exams end: Mid-February
Summer semester:
- Orientation week: beginning of March
- Lectures begin: March 15
- The lectures end: Mid-July
- Exams end: Mid-August
