Campus development and real laboratory
Outlook
Over the next ten years or so, the last inner-city open space of the former Coburg abattoir and goods station will be transformed into a ribbon of science and the third university campus in Coburg will be created.
Until then, the site will be available as a large experimental area where real-life laboratory projects such as the Blue Box or the Bau-Lab will be set up time and again, some of them on a temporary basis.
Experimental set-ups and installations give the site a face and thus offer opportunities for interim use and promote the exchange of ideas and knowledge.
Scientists, students, citizens and companies should be able to use these spaces to get involved and be creative.
The site offers a stage for the transfer and exchange of knowledge and is also enlivened by events and exhibitions as part of the “Designfabrik”.
Through the implementation of experimental real-world laboratory projects and “Designfabrik” activities, the campus development process will be communicated transparently, moderated and flanked by formats based on scientific dialog (“CampusDialog”). In the long term, the area at the entrance to Coburg will develop into a quarter where science, business, culture, design and society will find new space and strengthen the university, the city of Coburg and the region.
