Profile of the Science and Culture Center
The Science and Culture Center (WiKu) is a central scientific institution of Coburg University of Applied Sciences.
It takes up current social discourses, works interdisciplinary and in close relation to the scientific interests and projects of Coburg University of Applied Sciences and its faculties.
The Science and Culture Center performs cross-faculty scientific and cultural tasks.
Areas of responsibility
- Selection and organization of the Studium Generale courses
- Teaching the propaedeutic basics of scientific work
- Foreign language teaching at the Language Center
- Public lectures and discussion events, workshops and conferences
- Cultural events
Offers
The events offered by the Science and Culture Center are aimed at members of Coburg University of Applied Sciences and the general public.
They offer the opportunity to expand one’s own knowledge, discuss new issues and reflect on one’s own point of view.
Location
The Science and Culture Center is located on the Friedrich Streib Campus.
Wiku Council
A separate committee, the Wiku Council, was set up to further develop the Science and Culture Center and currently consists of the following members:

- Representative of the scientific staff of the WiKu: Richard Fry
- Representative of the science-supporting employees: Dr. Sarah Haase
Language Center
The Language Center offers students the opportunity to learn new languages and expand their existing foreign language skills in general language, study and subject-related contexts with a differentiated range of foreign languages.
By acquiring intercultural skills, students are specifically prepared for the challenges of internationalization.
General studies
In the Studium Generale, Coburg University of Applied Sciences offers teaching and cultural programs that promote lateral thinking, interdisciplinary learning and teamwork in an academic context.
In addition to in-depth specialist knowledge, such courses specifically support the personal development of students.
The Science and Culture Center bundles these courses, seminars and lectures, which are open to all students.
