The first step towards an academic career
Applied research is becoming increasingly important at Coburg University of Applied Sciences.
Research projects often take place in cooperation with partners from practice or other scientific institutions such as universities and research institutes.
Graduates with a Master’s degree who are interested in research topics and aspire to an academic career can gain experience and further qualifications as research assistants.
Tasks for scientific staff
Research associates…
- contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of application-oriented (research) projects at Coburg University of Applied Sciences
- work on their projects independently in an interdisciplinary team under the direction of the researcher responsible for the project
- publish research results in specialist media and take part in scientific conferences and congresses
- support the professorship in administrative or technical matters
- guide students who are involved in the projects as part of their final theses
Working hours and time limits
Employment as a research assistant is usually for a fixed term.
The academic project often forms the basis for a doctorate.
The positions are often not advertised as a full-time position, but as 50 or 75 percent of a full-time position.
This gives employees space for their own doctoral project.
Job requirements for research assistants
You own:
- A university degree with good or very good results and subsequent specialization (usually a Master’s degree)
- Ideally, insights into research projects gained through the Master’s thesis
