Prof. Dr. Susanne Aileen Funke
About me
I have been passionately interested in molecular biology, genetics and biotechnological applications since my student days. My current field of research is protein-protein interactions and protein detection. For more than 15 years, my research group has been using phage display to develop peptides that are to be developed into therapies against Alzheimer’s dementia. Other peptides selected by us prevent the interaction between proteins on bacterial pathogens and those on human host cells or the interactions between viral proteins, possibly preventing infectious diseases. We are also investigating biomarkers in connection with various diseases, for example menstrual migraine.
