The TAO ("Alliance")
Four universities for Upper Franconia
The four universities in Upper Franconia – the universities of Bamberg and Bayreuth as well as the universities of Coburg and Hof – work together in the TechnologieAllianzOberfranken (TAO). Content focus
The overarching theme of TechnologieAllianzOberfranken (TAO) is demographic change, which is affecting the region of Upper Franconia earlier than other regions in Bavaria. The ageing of society raises many questions, such as: What are the consequences for the region? What potential is available? What solutions can research and science offer to strengthen the region’s future viability? TAO pools the expertise of the four Upper Franconian universities in the following areas:
- Energy (efficiency, storage, smart grids, building efficiency, etc.)
- Mobility (fuels, car IT, air conditioning, lightweight construction, etc.)
- Materials
- Information technology/sensor technology
- People, health and technology
Opportunities to work in Coburg
As part of the TAO, Coburg University of Applied Sciences supports numerous projects and establishes structures to promote cross-university cooperation in Upper Franconia. All academics at Coburg University of Applied Sciences are invited to contribute their own initiatives for cross-university projects.
