What we value
Strong practical orientation
The course is very practice-oriented. You apply your knowledge early on in projects in which you work together with other degree programs. Partners from the field are often also involved.
In this way, you not only strengthen your social and cultural skills, but also make your first contacts for professional life. Another major benefit of the course is the individual support you receive. Coburg University of applied sciences and arts therefore offers ideal conditions for a versatile and successful education.

Practice during studies
Basic internship
A 9-week basic internship in a construction company in the construction industry must be completed by the beginning of the fifth semester. It can be completed in sections of at least four weeks and must take place during the semester break. You can find more information in our information sheet on the basic internship. If you have any questions about the type of basic internship, please contact Prof. Dietmar Kirsch.
Practical semester
The practical semester is usually in the fifth semester. It is systematically supervised and covers a continuous period of 20 weeks. Students complete 18 weeks in the internship, two weeks take place as a practical seminar at the university. You will get to know the typical professional activities of architects. The practical semester can also be completed abroad. The university has good contacts in the field and the International Office will help you find a suitable internship.
Studying with in-depth practice (PraxisPLUS)
Studying with in-depth practical experience in the PraxisPLUS model offers you the opportunity to gain more practical experience during your studies – without extending the duration of your studies. The prerequisite is a work contract with a company/institution. You can apply your knowledge from the lecture directly at work. The work in the company is remunerated. This in turn makes it easier to finance your studies.
Registration and aptitude test
Admission requirements
Prospective students with a general higher education entrance qualification, subject-specific higher education entrance qualification or entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences and – under certain conditions – prospective students without an Abitur can apply. The degree program is not admission-restricted, i.e. there is no numerus clausus (NC). Instead, an aptitude test must be taken.
Suitability test
The aptitude test offers applicants the opportunity to compare their own abilities with the requirements of the course.
In addition to general skills such as high motivation, commitment and willingness to perform, you will need a basic technical understanding and spatial awareness. During the aptitude test, we are particularly interested in your design and creative skills. An interview is also part of the aptitude test.
Dates
The next aptitude tests are expected to take place in July 2025. The dates will be determined around the beginning of 2025.
