Profile of the degree program
In times of digital change, the present is often the past before we realize it. But what does this mean for the future, when digital technology is constantly reshuffling the cards in our lives and work? And how can companies lead this technological change and not be driven by it? The emergence of new technologies offers numerous potentials for both service companies and industry that need to be identified and harnessed. The world therefore needs movers and shakers who want to shape change with their own ideas and new digital solutions and boldly break new ground in companies as an interface between different departments or as founders. The digital revolution needs game changers who not only understand new technologies, but also fully recognize their potential and are able to inspire others. In short: it needs you!
What we value
Course content and schedule
Your degree program is made up of courses on the three subject areas of Soft & Cross-Skills, Innovation & Change and Applied Digital Technology. Within your first 5 semesters, you will learn everything that has to do with digital change – sequentially and thus building on each other. In addition to basic business-related topics such as project and innovation management, the Soft & Cross-Skills block also includes psychological content and scientific work in general. Innovation & Change is dedicated entirely to the topic of creativity and transformation. Among other things, you will learn how to use innovation methods and rapid prototyping to develop and implement your own ideas and which framework conditions are favorable for this in a company. The Applied Digital Technology subject area teaches you all relevant technologies in terms of hardware and software – from the basics of programming and data science to human-machine interaction and technology architecture as in the Internet of Things. This is followed by a practical semester and a final seminar on entrepreneurship and your final thesis.

Our degree program is located at the Lucas-Cranach-Campus Kronach.
The newly created campus in the heart of the city of Kronach offers you learning, tinkering, living and meeting friends – all in the immediate vicinity.
Here you can meet people, question existing solutions, think about new things and actively shape them.
Tinker with your product ideas or simply repair a broken toaster, get to know tools (e.g. 3D printers, laser cutters), meet new people – all this and much more is possible in the campus’s own LCC FabLab.
Curriculum and examination regulations

Prof. Dr. Christian Zagel
I am Prof. Dr. Christian Zagel and the developer of the Applied Digital Transformation course.
As a business information scientist and through my work as Senior Manager IT Innovation & Technology at Adidas, I realized over time what ultimately determines the sustainable success of ideas. In addition to bringing together different perspectives, technology must always be considered together with the human component. Making these many years of experience and insights tangible and applicable for students motivated me to develop Applied Digital Transformation. How passionate am I about digital innovation?
