Scholarships

Although applying for a scholarship requires commitment and time from students, it also offers valuable experience and, if successful, numerous benefits.
The financial support varies depending on the foundation – from one-off grants for books to monthly payments.
Here you will find an overview of the most important scholarships available to you. Further information is available from our Student Advisory Service.

Oskar-Karl Forster Scholarship: The Bavarian State Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts provides Coburg University of Applied Sciences with funds from the estate of Consul Oskar-Karl Forster for the purchase of books and learning materials for talented and needy students.

State sponsorship for gifted students: Coburg University of Applied Sciences has set itself the goal of supporting particularly talented and committed students.
In the various degree courses, the best students of each year are regularly selected and recommended to the state organizations for the promotion of gifted students.
There are 13 state foundations for the promotion of gifted students in Germany.
These foundations award scholarships and support their scholarship holders with extensive accompanying programs such as seminars, mentoring projects and networking events.
The selection criteria for admission to the sponsoring organizations are, in particular, talent, commitment and need.

Bayerische EliteAkademie (Bavarian Elite Academy): This offers high-achieving students at Bavarian universities a comprehensive educational program.
It takes place over four semesters during the lecture-free period and is aimed at students from all fields of study, but preferably engineering, natural sciences and economics.
The Bavarian Elite Academy is a foundation of the Bavarian economy.
In order to be accepted into the Bavarian Elite Academy, a multi-stage application process must be completed.
Further information can be found on the website of the Bavarian Elite Academy.

Advancement scholarship: The program is primarily aimed at students who have gained several years of professional experience before starting their studies or who have made their way to university via further professional training to become a technician, master craftsman or comparable qualifications.
Unlike many other scholarship programs, the “Aufstiegsstipendium” therefore has no age limit for applications.
The program is part of the German government’s “Advancement through Education” qualification initiative.
Further information on the “Aufstiegsstipendium” can be found at the Stiftung Begabtenförderung berufliche Bildung.

Germany Scholarship

Germany Scholarship: The Germany Scholarship gives Coburg University of Applied Sciences the opportunity to provide financial support to particularly committed students and to enable them to make intensive contact with company practice.
To this end, we acquire scholarships from companies, institutions and private individuals.
The Federal Ministry of Education and Research adds the same amount for each scholarship of 150 euros per month.
This enables us to support some of our students with 300 euros per month for two semesters. When selecting scholarship holders, we attach great importance to outstanding school or academic achievements, extracurricular commitment and personal and family circumstances.
Special achievements and practical experience also play a role.
You can apply for a Deutschlandstipendium from mid-December to the end of January.
Further information and the application documents can be found in the Coburg University of Applied Sciences student portal (access only with log-in).

Our Family Office advises students, staff and lecturers on how to balance family, studies and work.
We are a member of “Familie in der Hochschule e.V.” and see ourselves as an impulse-giving institution in the social development towards more family orientation and appreciation of diversity.

Starting up and self-employment

Studying with a child

Campuszwerge" day nursery

The “Campuszwerge” crèche is located directly on the Friedrich Streib Campus of Coburg University of Applied Sciences.
The children of students aged between six months and three years can be looked after here.
Both the opening hours and the monthly parental contribution are tailored to the needs of student parents.
Typical daily routine in the crèche:

  • From 7 a.m., early childcare welcomes the first children.
  • Breakfast is served together at around 9 am.
Fruit and drinks are also available to the children between meals.
  • The nursery teachers then welcome the children in a short morning circle.
  • This is followed by supervised, guided free play (playing in the functional corners) or there is a short offer on the individual educational areas (social behavior, perception, language, music, movement, creativity, nature and environment).
  • Afterwards, the children discover the exciting world outside the crèche rooms – together with the teachers, they explore the campus or go into the garden.
  • Lunch is served at half past eleven.
  • Afterwards, the children take a nap or relax in a quiet atmosphere.
  • A snack will be served at around 2.30 pm.
  • The afternoon is similar to the morning with free play and targeted short activities in small groups (e.g. paste, shaving foam, finger paints, water, plasticine, crafts etc.), relaxation and retreat, depending on the children’s needs.
  • The younger the children, the more flexible the meal, rest and play times.
Because the motto of the crèche is: everyone according to their needs, without losing sight of the children’s community.
