Study semester abroad

Coburg University of Applied Sciences has more than 60 partner universities in Europe and over 30 partner universities outside Europe. These include, for example, Italy, Great Britain, Spain, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Iceland, Slovakia, but also the USA, Australia, Russia, New Zealand, Mexico and Chile. The cooperation agreements are usually concluded on a faculty or degree course basis. Here you can find an overview of our partner universities sorted by degree program.

Fees

Germany is one of the few countries in the world that does not charge tuition fees. However, many foreign universities waive tuition fees as part of their partnership programs. You can find out whether this is the case at your chosen university abroad from the International Office.

Recognition

As a rule, credits earned abroad are recognized during your studies in Germany – provided they meet the requirements of the respective degree program. We therefore strongly recommend that you find out which requirements must be met for recognition when preparing your studies abroad. You can get support from the International Office and your faculty’s international
coordinator. You can find all the important information about a semester abroad here: www.studieren-weltweit.de

Internships abroad

There are many opportunities to gain practical experience abroad during your studies: Starting with an internship semester to shorter stays abroad in foreign institutions and companies during the
semester break. There are numerous contacts with companies and institutions abroad in every
degree program. Simply ask your faculty’s international coordinator. In order for the internship abroad to be recognized as a compulsory internship, you must meet the requirements of your degree program. Information can also be obtained from the international coordinator. You can find detailed information on jobs, funding opportunities, etc. here: https://www.daad.de/ausland/praktikum/de/.

Double degree - Double Degree

In some degree programs, there is the possibility of acquiring a so-called double degree.
Students complete their Bachelor’s or Master’s degree at Coburg University of Applied Sciences and at one of our international partner universities. In this way, they get to know studying abroad
intensively, benefit from different subject specializations and have two Bachelor’s degrees “in their pocket” at the end. The study programs are coordinated.
Study and examination achievements are acquired at both universities and mutually recognized. Double degrees are currently possible in:

Further possibilities

In addition to a study or internship semester abroad, you can also complete a language course abroad. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) can provide you with information on
possible offers. You can also attend a summer school at a partner university or write your thesis abroad.

Financing

There are many ways to finance a semester of study, an internship abroad or a language course.

Timetable

You should already start thinking about how you can integrate one or more stays abroad into your studies at the beginning of your course. Take advantage of language courses at the university and/or abroad to prepare yourself. Start planning and preparing for a specific stay abroad at least one year in advance. You will need this information:

  • Who is the international representative in my faculty?
  • Which universities abroad can I go to for my degree program?
  • What relationships does my degree program have with foreign companies or domestic companies with branches abroad?
Ask your professors, fellow students and friends.
  • What are the costs of the stay abroad (including flights, living expenses, etc.)?
  • What financing options are there for me?
  • What do I have to do to prepare for having foreign academic achievements or internships recognized in my degree program?
  • Do I need special vaccinations, visas, insurance, labor law requirements, etc. for the destination country?

The International Office has put together a package for you that will prepare you well for your stay abroad.
